Key Points
In Week 33 (August 12–18, 2024), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable across all age groups compared to the previous week.
Most seasonal indicators are stable or declining, with the exception of increases observed for ENT conditions among 2- to 14-year-olds and 15- to 74-year-olds (respectively +9% and +13%, or +361 and +536 visits) as well as for pertussis among 2- to 14-year-olds (+24%, or +25 visits), though it remains stable in other age groups. Visits for suspected COVID-19 infection also remain stable across all age groups.
Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits:
among children and adults aged 15–74 for skin and subcutaneous infections (up 13% and 8%, respectively, or 175 and 410 visits) and conjunctivitis (up 11% and 22%, respectively, or 52 and 129 visits);
among children for gastroenteritis and vomiting (13% and 14% respectively, or 338 and 163 visits) as well as abdominal pain in children under 2 years of age (9% or 50 visits);
among adults for urinary tract infections (+7%, or 388 more visits).
