Summary
In week 32 (August 6–12), emergency room visits for all causes decreased by 4.7% among children, remained stable among adults aged 15–74, and increased by 5.2% among those aged 75 and older (a rise of 2,643 visits). Hospitalizations following emergency room visits followed the same trends.
Among seasonal conditions, visits related to heat decreased, with the exception of cases of hyperthermia/heatstroke among children under 2 years old (20 visits over the past week) and dehydration among those aged 75 and older (570 visits over the week), which remained stable. There is also a slight increase in visits for general malaise among children aged 2–14 (+10%, or +40 visits) and for asthma attacks among adults aged 15–74 (+7.5%, or +54 visits). All other seasonal conditions are either stable or declining. The share of visits for insect bites and allergies remains higher than in the previous two years across all age groups.
Among the most common conditions, visits are on the rise for: - abdominal pain in children under 2 years old and adults aged 75 and older for the second consecutive week (17% and +12.2%, respectively), - skin and subcutaneous infections in children aged 2–14 (+9.6%), - ENT infections in adults aged 15–74 (+11.5%).
