Mental Health Syndromic Surveillance Bulletin, September 13, 2021
Key Points
In emergency departments, visits for mood disorders and, to a lesser extent, for anxiety disorders were on the rise across all age groups. Visits were also on the rise for suicidal behavior among children and adults under 44, conduct disorders among children, and alcohol-related issues among those aged 15–64. The levels observed were similar to or lower than those of previous years, except for mood disorders in children.
In SOS Médecins clinics, several indicators were on the rise among adults, notably sleep disorders (ages 15–64) and depressive states. Among children, consultations for anxiety were still on the rise, albeit among very small numbers. For most indicators, the levels observed were comparable to those of previous years, except among adults for anxiety (ages 15–44), depressive disorders (ages 15–44), and alcohol use (ages 65 and older).
