Ghosts are light sleepers
How do shelters for the homeless address the issue of sleep? A manager at an Emmaus shelter in Paris emphasizes that the quality of housing is crucial. Dormitory-style shelters, their overcrowded conditions, and the insecurity felt by homeless people who sleep with one eye open to watch over their belongings are a daily reality. Resources are lacking to improve housing conditions, but the shelter staff remains committed; they would like to have support to better address the needs of the homeless and break down the rigid barrier between medical and social services.
