Products involved in the occurrence of a CVA may be manufactured goods, food items, environmental features (sidewalks, low walls), or chemicals. By extension, products include plants that can cause stings (cacti) or poisoning, as well as animals: dogs (bites), horses (falls), wasps (stings), etc.

It is common for one or more products to be involved in the occurrence of an accident in daily life. This may be a product “involved” in the accident, a product that “caused” the injury, or a product that played a role in some way in the occurrence and/or severity of the accident. The descriptive approach to accidents by product addresses a prevention concern: Is this product dangerous? How can we prevent accidents from occurring during its use?
