HIV Infections and AIDS

  • HIV Surveillance:

    • Participation in LaboVIH: In 2024, the participation rate in LaboVIH is 87%;

    • Coverage of diagnostic testing: coverage of diagnostic testing is estimated at 79%.

  • HIV testing (LaboVIH / SNDS / VIHTest): HIV testing is on the rise in 2024 for both men and women

    • LaboVIH: The rate of HIV serology tests per 1,000 inhabitants has increased compared to 2023 (145 vs. 133). The positivity rate per 1,000 serology tests is 1.0;

    • SNDS: The screening rate of beneficiaries tested at least once during the year per 1,000 inhabitants is 98.4. People aged 25–49 get tested more frequently, with a rate of 224.1 per 1,000 for women and 133 per 1,000 for men;

    • VIHTest and Mon test IST: The number of individuals screened through this program has increased significantly compared to 2023, rising from 65,845 to 140,788.

  • HIV Diagnosis (DO): The number of new HIV-positive diagnoses remained stable in 2024, with 333 cases reported in 2024, representing a rate of 63.8 per million inhabitants.

  • HIV incidence and size of the undiagnosed population: HIV incidence is estimated at 217 new infections in 2024. The proportion of the population that is HIV-positive and undiagnosed is estimated at 619 people.

  • AIDS diagnoses: The number of AIDS diagnoses is estimated at 42 in 2024.

Chlamydia trachomatis (Ct) infections

  • The screening rate for Ct infections is increasing in 2024 to 53.2 per 1,000 inhabitants;

  • The diagnosis rate for Ct infections remains stable at 91.4 per 100,000 inhabitants;

  • Cases of chlamydiosis diagnosed at CeGIDD are predominantly young men born in France.

Gonococcal infections

  • The screening rate for gonococcal infections continues to rise to 60.6 per 1,000 inhabitants;

  • The diagnosis rate for gonococcal infections is rising to 29 per 100,000 inhabitants;

  • The cases of gonococcal infection diagnosed in CeGIDD are predominantly men aged 26 to 49 born in France.

Syphilis

  • The screening rate for syphilis is 57.4 per 1,000 inhabitants, a slight increase;

  • The syphilis diagnosis rate is 8.8 per 100,000 inhabitants, showing a slight increase;

  • Recent syphilis cases at CeGIDD are overwhelmingly men aged 26 and older born in France (55%) but also abroad (45%).
