Health Surveillance in the Île-de-France Region. Bulletin of February 12, 2026.
Key points
Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
In hospitals: The rate of emergency department visits for acute lower respiratory tract infections (ALRTIs) continued to decline, accounting for 3.2% of total activity (-0.5 percentage points). The number of emergency department visits for ALRTIs also continued to decrease, with 2,324 visits (-14.1%).
In the community: At SOS Médecins, the number of procedures also declined, with 1,713 procedures (-14.8%). The activity rate for lower respiratory tract infections decreased to 13.6% (-1.8 percentage points).
Influenza and Influenza-Like Illness
Indicators for influenza-like illnesses were down across all age groups, both in outpatient settings and in hospitals. Consequently, the number of healthcare visits and hospitalizations following emergency department visits decreased. The Île-de-France region has been in the post-epidemic phase for two weeks.
COVID-19
SOS Médecins: The number of cases involving suspected COVID-19 remained stable across all age groups. Case numbers remained low.
Emergency room visits: The number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 was increasing across all age groups. Case numbers remained low.
SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater: In S06, an overall upward trend in the level of SARS-CoV-2 circulation in wastewater was observed (6 of the 7 wastewater treatment plants have interpretable results).
Acute gastroenteritis
In general, the trend in data and the percentage of emergency room visits for gastroenteritis among children under one year of age is particularly volatile. It currently stands at an average of around 26 emergency room visits per day in Île-de-France for children under one year of age. The available data suggest the onset of an annual gastroenteritis epidemic.
