Epidemiological surveillance in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Update as of May 12, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Viral circulation has dropped significantly;

  • Decrease in the number of patients in conventional inpatient care and those admitted to critical care;

  • Decreased activity in emergency departments;

  • Decrease in the number of cases in long-term care facilities.

Flu

  • Transition to the post-epidemic period—15 weeks of the epidemic;

  • Emergency departments: emergency activity related to flu-like symptoms is decreasing;

  • SOS Médecins: the proportion of consultations for a diagnosis of flu-like symptoms is decreasing;

  • Sentinelles Network: the incidence rate for influenza-like illness reported by the Sentinelles Network in week 18, not yet consolidated, is 58 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [3; 113]), stable;

  • Virological surveillance: since the start of surveillance, the Rénal network has isolated 3,514 type A viruses and 2 type B viruses. Physicians in the Sentinelles network have isolated 71 type A influenza viruses (data not available for the week analyzed);

  • Severe cases of influenza: 24 cases admitted to intensive care were reported by the intensive care sentinel network.
