Clustered cases of COVID-19 in the Pays de la Loire region from May 2020 to October 2021

Key Findings

  • Healthcare facilities, nursing homes, and social care facilities accounted for the largest number of clusters (38%) and had the highest impact indicators. Clusters in vulnerable communities represented a small proportion (8%) of the reports recorded during the surveillance period.

  • Nevertheless, apart from clusters in healthcare facilities, nursing homes, and social care facilities, clusters in vulnerable communities had a high median duration, likely reflecting difficulties in implementing effective management measures (language barriers, overcrowding in housing, close living conditions, financial constraints making it impossible to stop work, etc.).

  • Among the 179 clusters in vulnerable settings, 39% were reported in housing and integration facilities, 28% in child welfare facilities, and 26% in vulnerable communities. Clusters in correctional facilities had the longest median duration (16 days).

  • The agri-food sector accounted for 20% of clusters reported in the workplace. This sector exhibited impact indicators significantly higher than those of other sectors of activity.
