Surveillance in the Occitanie region. Update as of January 27, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
In Week 03, SARS-CoV-2 circulation continues to rise at a very high rate. Virological indicators continue to increase (incidence rate and positivity rate). The already high strain on hospitals is increasing in general wards, but the pressure on critical care units is decreasing.
Bronchiolitis
End of the epidemic. After one week in the post-epidemic phase (02-2022), the continued decline in indicators in Occitanie signals the end of the winter epidemic following 13 weeks in the epidemic phase—an exceptionally long duration this year compared to previous years. Indicators continue to decline, and the region is at the green level for week 03-2022.
Flu
The region has been in the epidemic phase for 6 weeks. Children (<15 years old) are particularly affected. After an initial surge in the eastern part of the region, indicators there have been declining for 4 weeks and are stable or rising in the western and southern parts of Occitanie.
Acute Gastroenteritis
OSCOUR: Gastroenteritis activity was high in week 03-2022 (Figure 15). Visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were increasing compared to the previous week, but an overall downward trend has been observed since late December 2021 (Figure 16). In week 03-2022, 623 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded (402 for patients under 5 years of age), representing 2.2% of all visits (524 in week 02, including 345 for patients under 5 years of age).
SOS Médecins: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 03-2022 (Figure 17). Procedures for all ages with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were down compared to the previous week, and here too, an overall downward trend has been observed since late December 2021 (Figure 18). In week 03-2022, 205 cases with this diagnosis were recorded (59 in children under 5), representing 6.4% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (247 cases in week 02, including 79 in children under 5).
Sentinelles: the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 97 per 100,000 [54; 140], remaining generally stable compared to previous weeks.
