Key Points

COVID-19

In Occitanie, according to data available as of January 19, 2021, for week 02-2022, the incidence and positivity rates were higher than in the previous week: a positivity rate of 23.0% (compared to 17.9% in week 01-2022, an increase of 5.1 percentage points) and an incidence rate of 2,832 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 2,306 in week 01-2022, an increase of 23%) (Table 9, Figure 10). The testing rate, however, decreased slightly to 12,341 per 100,000 inhabitants versus 12,916 in week 01-2022, a decrease of 5%. At the regional level, positivity rates were rising across all age groups. Incidence rates were rising among those under 20 and those aged 30–64, stable among those aged 65 and older, and declining among those aged 20–39. Testing rates were slightly higher among children aged 0–9 and stable or declining in other age groups.

Bronchiolitis

The Occitanie region entered the post-epidemic phase in week 02-2022, following 13 weeks of the epidemic.

Influenza

The region has been in the epidemic phase for 5 weeks. Children under 15 are particularly affected. After starting in the eastern part of the region, indicators there have been decreasing for 3 weeks and are stable or increasing in the west, depending on the source.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • OSCOUR: Gastroenteritis activity was high in week 02-2022. Visits for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were slightly lower than the previous week across all age groups but increased among children under 5. In week 02-2022, 520 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded (including 344 for patients under 5 years of age), representing 1.9% of all visits (versus 540 visits in week 01-2022 for all ages and 303 for those under 5).

  • SOS Médecins: Gastroenteritis activity was moderate in week 02-2022. Procedures for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis across all age groups were stable compared to the previous week, but also increased among children under 5 years of age (Figure 18). In week 02-2022, 247 out of 79 cases for this diagnosis were recorded (including 79 in children under 5), representing 7.5% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (234 cases in week 01-2022, including 49 in children under 5).

  • Sentinel data: the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 95 per 100,000 [56; 134], down from the previous week (116 per 100,000).
