Public Health Bulletin on Tuberculosis in Occitanie. March 2019.
Key Points
Data from mandatory tuberculosis reporting show that the reporting rate remained stable from 2014 to 2017 in Occitanie (5.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2016 and 2017).
The reporting rate remains stable among people born in France, and while the reporting rate is also stable among people born abroad, it continued to rise in 2016 and 2017 among people born in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
The proportion of reported cases is higher among new arrivals who have been in France for less than two years. This proportion also increased from 27% in 2015 to 33% in 2017.
The diagnosis of tuberculosis continues to be driven primarily by patients seeking care on their own initiative, except in specific screening contexts.
Pediatric cases increased from 4% to 7% between 2016 and 2017.
