Acute Respiratory Infections (Flu, Bronchiolitis, COVID-19) in Occitanie. Bulletin of March 4, 2026.
Key Points
Acute Respiratory Infections
In week 09-2026, indicators for acute respiratory infections (ARI) were stable or declining, both in hospitals and in community settings (Table 1), across all age groups.
This ARI activity was primarily driven by the use of healthcare services for influenza-like illnesses and acute bronchitis (in outpatient settings), and for pneumonia (in hospitals).
Bronchiolitis (children under 1 year of age)
Like other regions, Occitanie has been in the post-epidemic phase for several weeks. Indeed, through week 09, the number of cases and the proportion of emergency department visits remained at a moderate level, as did hospitalizations. At SOS Médecins, the number of cases treated over the past two weeks was higher than in previous weeks.
Influenza and influenza-like illness
In week 09-2026, the Occitanie region returned to the baseline level (green) and emerged from the post-epidemic phase. Indicators were in sharp decline (Table 3, Figures 7–14) across all age groups.
The flu epidemic has ended and lasted 11 weeks, from week 49-2025 to 07-2026. All regions in mainland France are now at the baseline level.
COVID-19
In week 09-2026, indicators were at low levels in Occitanie. Indicators were stable.
