Nouvelle-Aquitaine Public Health Bulletin. April 2018.
Key Points
In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, vaccination coverage among children aged 2 years in 2016 remains insufficient for all vaccines, except for diphtheria-tetanus-polio (DTP), pertussis, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccines:
The target of 95% vaccination coverage has been achieved for DTP, pertussis, and Hib vaccinations in the region and in nearly all departments. However, a decrease in vaccination coverage for DTP and pertussis has been observed in Deux-Sèvres, reaching 94%. Furthermore, vaccination coverage against Hib has decreased in 6 departments of the region.
Pneumococcal vaccination coverage has been increasing over the past three years in the region and across all departments in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, with the exception of Landes and Deux-Sèvres.
Hepatitis B vaccination coverage has increased significantly in all departments of the region, reaching a coverage rate of 93%, higher than that of France (90%).
Two-dose measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination coverage, although increasing in nearly all departments, remains insufficient in the region, with a regional rate of 77%. In contrast, one-dose vaccination coverage, at around 90%, has decreased by more than one percentage point in 7 out of 12 departments.
Between 2015 and 2017, meningococcal C vaccination coverage increased across all age groups, but remains below the national average and has not progressed sufficiently among older children.
In 2017, only 23% of 16-year-old girls had completed their human papillomavirus vaccination. This vaccination coverage rate is increasing in the region but remains insufficient, as it is throughout France.
