Key Points
Acute lower respiratory tract infections (ALRTIs)
A low-intensity peak in late September 2024 at SOS Médecins clinics and emergency departments;
High peak of activity in January 2025, more pronounced and occurring later in SOS Médecins clinics than in emergency departments, primarily linked to the flu epidemic.
Bronchiolitis (children under 2 years of age)
Short epidemic (7 weeks) occurring between mid-November 2024 and early January 2025 with a pattern comparable to epidemics prior to the COVID-19 pandemic;
Lower intensity than previous epidemics;
Less impact on hospital admissions, with 36% of hospitalizations following emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis at the peak of the outbreak;
Low proportion of infants under 3 months among hospitalized cases (35%), similar to the 2023–24 season.
Flu-like syndromes
Long epidemic phase (13 weeks), from mid-December 2024 to early March 2025;
Very high intensity, significantly higher than in previous seasons in the SOS Médecins networks;
Hospital impact defined as high, higher than in previous seasons.
Suspected COVID-19
Upward trend in activity at SOS Médecins clinics, and to a lesser extent in emergency departments, in September 2024, with activity levels remaining low;
People aged 15–44 were the most common group among SOS Médecins cases, while those aged 65 and older were the most common group among emergency room visits and hospitalizations following emergency room visits;
