Health Surveillance in Normandy. Bulletin of October 1, 2025.
Key Points
COVID-19
In Normandy, Covid-19 activity indicators continue to rise (calls to SOS Médecins and emergency room visits), with varying trends by age group:
Among those under 15, calls are declining and remain at a moderate level;
Among those aged 15–64, calls are increasing, particularly for private practice care (SOS Médecins);
Among those over 64, a slight increase is observed, both in primary care and in emergency room visits.
SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation continues to rise and has reached a level comparable to that of the 2024–2025 epidemic wave.
Bronchiolitis
Among children under 1 year of age, indicators of healthcare utilization for bronchiolitis continue to rise slightly. However, data from virology laboratories indicate very low circulation of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus).
The immunization campaign for newborns against RSV infections began on September 1, 2025. Two strategies are possible: either vaccinating the pregnant woman to protect the newborn or infant under 6 months of age, or actively immunizing infants with a monoclonal antibody.
Back-to-School Asthma
Asthma surveillance indicators for people under 15 in urban areas (SOS Médecins) and in hospitals (emergency room visits) continue to decline but remain at high levels, following the trends of previous years.
For asthmatic children who are still asymptomatic, resuming maintenance therapy without delay is recommended.
