Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Bulletin of January 9, 2025.

Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • In hospitals, indicators were declining. This decrease in bronchiolitis-related activity was part of a downward trend that had been ongoing for several weeks. The peak of the epidemic occurred between weeks 47 and 48. Children under one year of age continued to account for the vast majority of healthcare visits for bronchiolitis.

  • In the community, indicators remained stable at a low level.

Influenza and Influenza-Like Illnesses

  • The overall number of healthcare visits for influenza-like illness decreased in hospitals and stabilized in private practice at SOS Médecins. However, the situation varied across different age groups.

  • The stabilization or even decrease in the number of cases in Week 01 should be interpreted with caution, as this may be due to the large number of people leaving the region for vacation during the end-of-year holiday period. A possible resurgence of the epidemic in the weeks following the start of the 2025 school year cannot be ruled out.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Slight increase in the number of SOS Médecins calls for acute gastroenteritis. Indicators in the Sentinelles network remained stable.

  • Decrease in emergency room visits and visits followed by hospitalization across all age groups; decrease in visits but increase in visits followed by hospitalization among those under 15.

  • Activity levels were low among SOS Médecins associations and moderate in hospital emergency departments.
