COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of March 3, 2022

Key Points

In Week 08 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators continued to decline, though they remained at high levels compared to previous waves of the epidemic. The public health situation continued to improve, with no signs of a resurgence of the epidemic at this stage.

  • The crude incidence rate stood at 330 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and declined for the seventh consecutive week, returning to levels observed in late November 2021.

  • The testing rate and positivity rate were declining for the 7th and 5th consecutive weeks, respectively. The latter, however, remained high at 10.9%.

  • The Omicron variant is predominant in Île-de-France: more than 99% of interpretable screening test results report mutation profiles consistent with the variant.

  • SI-VIC data continued to show a decline in new hospitalizations, new ICU admissions, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.

  • Vaccination coverage with at least one dose stood at 76.1%, at 75.1% for the full course, and at 52.9% for the booster dose.

Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
