COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of February 3, 2022
Key Points
In Week 04 in Île-de-France, viral circulation remained very intense in the region. The public health situation appeared to be improving but remained dire.
The crude incidence rate stood at 2,303 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and declined for the third consecutive week, though it remained very high amid a decrease in testing rates.
The positivity rate decreased for the first time since late October 2021, yet remained very high at 27.2%.
The Omicron variant (21K, B.1.1.529), which has been the dominant strain in Île-de-France since Week 51, continued to spread rapidly in the region.
SI-VIC data showed a decline in new hospitalizations and new ICU admissions, as well as a decrease, for the first time in nine weeks, in COVID-19-related hospital deaths.
Vaccination coverage with at least one dose stood at 75.8%, at 74.5% for the full course, and at 48.1% for the booster dose.
Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
