Key Points

COVID-19

In Week 43 of 2022, a decrease in SARS-CoV-2 circulation was observed in the Grand Est region (as incidence data for Week 43 are incomplete, they should be interpreted with caution):

  • Decrease in incidence across all age groups.

  • Decrease in the number of new hospitalizations across all departments and in critical care admissions compared to Week 42 of 2022.

  • Decrease in the number of emergency room visits and the number of consultations for COVID-19 reported by SOS Médecins associations in the region.

Monkeypox

  • 101 confirmed cases of monkeypox had been recorded in the Grand Est region as of 11/01/22.

Bronchiolitis

  • OSCOUR®: In Week 43, the proportion of activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age in emergency departments continues to rise. It stands at 18%, or 368 visits. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is 38% in Week 43 of 2022.

  • SOS Médecins: In week 43, the proportion of SOS Médecins’ activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 11%, up from week 42 of 2022.

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses

  • OSCOUR®: The number of emergency department visits for influenza-like illness, all ages, increased slightly in week 43 of 2022 compared to the previous week (57 versus 39 in week 42 of 2022). The proportion of cases remains below 0.5%.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for influenza-like illness, all ages, decreased compared to the previous week (121 consultations in week 43-2022 versus 171 in week 42-2022), representing 1.8% of activity.
