Key Points
Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for ischemic heart disease in the Grand Est region was significantly higher than that of France (563 vs. 459 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively), with an average of 25,144 patients hospitalized per year in the region. The standardized prevalence in 2022 was 6.4% in the region and was higher than that of France (5.5%). The standardized mortality rate for 2020–2022 was also higher in the region (63 per 100,000 inhabitants) compared to that of France (59 per 100,000 inhabitants).
Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for heart failure in the Grand Est region was higher than that of France (370 vs. 344 per 100,000 inhabitants), with an average of 16,125 patients hospitalized annually in the region. The standardized prevalence was 2.6% in 2022 in the region, comparable to that of France (2.5%). The standardized mortality rate (2020–2022) in the region was also comparable to that of France (45 vs. 46 per 100,000 inhabitants).
Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for stroke in the Grand Est region was slightly lower than that of France (215 vs. 231 per 100,000 inhabitants), with an average of 9,491 patients hospitalized per year in the region. The standardized prevalence in 2022 was 1.9% in the region, comparable to the national prevalence (2.0%). The standardized mortality rate in the region was slightly higher than that of France (60 vs. 58 per 100,000 inhabitants).
At the subregional level, disparities were evident across departments and among conditions, with some heterogeneity also observed at the subdepartmental level.
