Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of June 16, 2023.
Key points
Chikungunya, dengue, Zika
Since the start of enhanced surveillance in the region, 37 cases of arboviral diseases—34 confirmed and 3 probable—have been identified in Île-de-France, including 36 cases of dengue and 1 case of chikungunya, all of which were imported (Table 1 and Figure 2).
The cases were imported from the Caribbean (18), Latin America (6), Asia (8), and sub-Saharan Africa (5). Among the cases, 35 (95%) were potentially viremic in Île-de-France.
Extreme heat, heat wave
As of June 1, the national heatwave plan is in effect across the region. As it does every year, Santé publique France has implemented seasonal monitoring and is reiterating prevention messages and recommended actions to take during periods of extreme heat.
The Île-de-France region was on green alert in S22: no impact on e-heatwave indicators in S22.
The Île-de-France region is under a green alert in S23 as of the date of this report’s release.
Pollen
Due to weather conditions (high temperatures and stormy conditions) and the presence of allergens (pollen, grasses), an increase in healthcare utilization for asthma, allergies, and dyspnea/respiratory failure has been observed in the form of a sudden phenomenon known as a thunderstorm asthma attack or “thunderstorm asthma.”
