Surveillance of infections linked to the novel coronavirus (MERS-CoV) As of November 26, 2013, the WHO’s report on the international situation lists 160 cases of novel coronavirus infections (including 68 deaths) across 11 countries/emirates: Germany: 2 cases (1 death), Saudi Arabia: 130 cases (55 deaths), France: 2 cases (1 death), Italy: 1 case, Jordan: 2 cases (2 deaths), Kuwait: 2 cases, Oman: 1 case, Qatar: 7 cases (2 deaths), United Kingdom: 4 cases (3 deaths), Tunisia: 3 cases (1 death), and United Arab Emirates: 6 cases (2 deaths). In France, 484 reports of suspected MERS-CoV infections have been received, including 142 possible cases; only 2 have been confirmed by the CNR to date (including 1 death).In France, the High Council for Public Health (HCSP) updated a document on June 28 regarding the management and prevention of MERS-CoV infections, the coronavirus responsible for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV). This advisory was supplemented on October 30, 2013, by a new advisory regarding the management of asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic contacts of a confirmed case.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: The Auvergne region, as well as the Burgundy and Rhône-Alpes regions, were placed under an orange alert for snow and ice by Météo-France between November 20 and 24. More than 7,000 households were without power in the region, the majority of which were in Haute-Loire (5,000 households). Generators used improperly in enclosed spaces (garages) were the cause of the three most recent reported cases (2 in Haute-Loire, 1 in Cantal). It is important to remember that these devices must always be used outside of buildings.
