COVID-19

In Week 14, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation remains at epidemic levels and continues to rise. The incidence rate is 1,316 per 100,000 inhabitants (+10%), and the positivity rate remains high (35.5%). Visits to emergency departments continue to increase. In long-term care facilities, the number of cases among residents increased in Week 13. The number of hospitalized patients continues to rise, while new hospitalizations are stabilizing.

Influenza

During Week 14, in inpatient care, according to data from the Oscour® network, emergency department visits across all age groups in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness have stabilized at a high level. In Week 14, 1,495 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (-1.5% compared to Week 13), representing 3.2% of all emergency department visits across all age groups (stable compared to Week 13). Of these 1,495 visits, 159 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 10.6% for this diagnosis (down). Hospitalizations for influenza/influenza-like illness accounted for 2.0% of all hospitalizations in Week 14, a slight decrease compared to the previous week (2.3% in Week 13). Within the region, hospital pressure remains consistent.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Oscour® Network: Emergency department visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis have remained stable for the past two weeks and account for 2.1% of total activity. The share of these visits in total activity across all age groups is significantly higher than in previous years during the same period. With 558 emergency department visits for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis, activity among children under 5 is high (9.8% in Week 14) although it has been decreasing for the past 4 weeks. The hospitalization rate following a visit stands at 17.4% in Week 14 for this age group. The rate of gastroenteritis among hospitalizations for children under 5 (17.5%) has stabilized over the past two weeks.

  • SOS Médecins Network: Activity for gastroenteritis across all age groups is low in Week 14, at 5.4%. Among children under 5, consultations for gastroenteritis remain at a moderate level, accounting for 6.6% of activity in this age group in Week 14 (8.8% in Week 13).

  • Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 74 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [40; 108]) in Week 14, stable compared to the previous 3 weeks.
