Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
- In Corsica, no imported cases of dengue, chikungunya, or Zika have been confirmed since May 1.
West Nile virus infections
- No locally acquired cases have been detected in mainland France since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1).
Extreme Heat, Heat Wave
- Corsica has been under an orange heat wave alert since June 22, and this alert level is expected to remain in effect for the next few days.
- Heat-related activity in emergency departments has risen sharply compared to the previous week, in terms of both visits and hospitalizations. It has exceeded the expected seasonal levels. This increase is particularly pronounced among people aged 75 and older. In this age group, the hospitalization rate following a visit was 85%.
- Heat-related activity has also increased at SOS Médecins.
Pollen and Allergies
- Allergy-related activity at SOS Médecins decreased compared to the previous week and returned to a typical level for this time of year.
- Pollen levels are high across the entire island.
Mortality
- No excess mortality was observed in S24. Given the heat wave, the data will be monitored in the coming weeks.
