Key Points

Malaria

  • Resurgence of malaria cases in Mayotte: 32 new cases reported in week 18, including 20 in the municipality of Chirongui; 17 of the 20 cases recorded in this municipality are suspected to be locally acquired.
  • Since the beginning of 2026, 128 cases of malaria have been recorded, 27 suspected to be locally acquired, 89 imported cases—mostly from the Comoros—and 12 with undetermined status. 

Chikungunya

  • After several weeks of increase, the number of chikungunya cases began to decline starting in week S17, with a much more pronounced drop in S18 (58 cases compared to 102 in S17, a decrease of 43.1%, unconsolidated data).
  • 32 cases have required hospitalization since the beginning of the year, including 3 severe cases admitted to intensive care.
  • Decrease in reports of suspected chikungunya to the SAMU dispatch center and stabilization of consultations for dengue-like syndromes at Medical Reference Centers. 

Leptospirosis

  • Since the beginning of 2026, 132 cases of leptospirosis have already been recorded; 22 required hospitalization, including 5 cases admitted to intensive care. 

Mpox

  • Two new cases of Mpox (monkeypox) were reported in week 18: one imported from Madagascar and the other locally acquired, bringing the total number of cases recorded in Mayotte since the start of the year to 18.
