Key Points

Dengue

  • Dengue activity has been low over the past two weeks, consistent
    with levels typically observed during the inter-epidemic period.

Chikungunya

  • Since the detection of the first confirmed case of chikungunya in late January, 249 cases have been confirmed in French Guiana, including 198 in the Western Coastal region (80%), which is currently in an epidemic phase.

Malaria

  • The number of malaria cases reported in the territory was low and stable over the past two weeks, with 4 malaria episodes recorded (2 in S17 and 2 in S18) compared to a total of 7 in S15 and S16. These 7 cases were caused by P. vivax, including 1 relapse.

Acute respiratory infections

  • Bronchiolitis: a slight increase in activity has been recorded over the past few weeks, with RSV identified in several laboratory samples. In addition, severe cases have been reported.
  • Flu-like illness and COVID-19: Activity related to influenza and SARS-CoV-2 was low.

Diarrhea

  • Diarrhea-related activity was high over the past two weeks in the CDPS and emergency departments at the three CHU sites.
