- 1,176 suspected cases of measles occurred between January 1 and December 31, 2025, in France;

Geographic and demographic distribution
- 71 departments with at least one case; 4 cases reported in the overseas territories;
- Median age of 16 years, higher than in previous years;
- Incidence rate of reported cases of 1.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (excluding imported cases), with a peak among infants under one year of age (10.9 per 100,000 inhabitants with 62 cases).
Hospitalizations and Complications
- 319 (37%) cases hospitalized, including 15 in intensive care, primarily among children under 5 years of age and adults over 30 years of age;
- 121 cases (14%) with complications (73 cases of pneumonia), mostly among adults over 30 years of age;
- 7 deaths recorded: 4 immunocompromised adults following measles contracted in 2025, and 3 deaths from late complications of measles in children who contracted the disease before 2025.
Vaccination status
- 60.3% of cases reported in 2025 were unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated;
- Among 619 cases eligible for vaccination with vaccination status reported at the time of notification: 51% unvaccinated, 16% vaccinated with 1 dose, 31% with two doses, and 1% vaccinated with an unknown number of doses;
- 21 hospitalizations and 9 complications reported among cases vaccinated with two doses.
Imported cases and epidemiologically linked outbreaks
- 128 imported cases, mostly from Morocco, an increase of 65% compared to 2024; more than half unvaccinated;
- 24 clusters linked to these imported cases, of varying sizes (1 to 6 associated cases); nearly 20% of cases were of imported origin or linked to an imported case, confirming the impact in France of the resurgence of measles circulation worldwide;
- A total of 116 clusters of epidemiologically linked cases identified: 30 clusters of 5 or more cases involving early childhood care facilities, schools, healthcare facilities (healthcare institutions), family circles, or vulnerable populations with limited access to care (Roma camps, traveling communities). A major outbreak involving 75 cases across 18 departments following attendance at a Parisian trade show.
