The barometers of Santé publique France
The Santé publique France Health Barometer: a survey of health-related behaviors, opinions, and knowledge designed to guide public health prevention and education policies.
This is one of the most comprehensive national health surveys. Since 1992, it has covered more than 30 topics, including smoking, nutrition, well-being, sleep, living conditions, and vaccination practices. The survey provides valuable information at both the national and regional levels. First conducted in the Overseas Departments and Regions in 2014, this survey is being repeated in these territories in 2021. Approximately 2,000 people per department (Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Réunion) are invited to complete a questionnaire that takes about 30 minutes.
Survey Process
The survey begins in late January 2021 and will run for approximately six months. Respondents are contacted by the Ipsos polling institute via randomly dialed telephone numbers (landlines or cell phones).
To ensure that the data collected best reflects the opinions and habits of all people living in these departments, it is very important that every selected person agrees to participate. All age groups and all living situations are included. All information collected will be fully anonymized.
Santé publique France would like to thank in advance all individuals contacted by Ipsos as part of this survey for their cooperation and the time they agree to devote to the interviewers. The data obtained will be invaluable, particularly for all professionals working in the field of prevention in these departments.
The initial results of this study will be released in 2022.
Health Barometers: A Survey of Public Opinions and Habits to Guide Public Health Prevention and Information Policies
The Santé publique France Health Barometer is a general population survey designed to better understand the health attitudes and behaviors of people living in France in order to develop legitimate and effective interventions.
For over 25 years, these recurring surveys have tracked key behaviors, attitudes, and perceptions related to risk-taking and the health status of the population residing in France: smoking, alcohol use, illicit drug use, vaccination practices, sexual behavior, cancer screening, physical activity, nutrition, quality of life, sleep, accidents, pain, healthcare utilization, mental health, etc.
By exploring such health behaviors and the perception of associated risks, the Santé publique France Barometer reveals current health and social trends and thus provides essential data for the development and evaluation of public health policies.
Survey results on various topics and populations are made public through articles, oral presentations, posters displayed at conferences, press releases, or other publication formats.
