Population behavior.
J. Arènes and P. Guilbert extracted data from the CFES’s 1995–96 Barometer Survey on tobacco and alcohol consumption (particularly wine), sleep patterns, breakfast habits, use of healthcare services and screenings, and vaccinations received, comparing these figures with those for non-rural residents. F. Danzon presents the current situation of women, their living and working conditions, and their perceptions of health and illness, which are shaped by the demands of farm work and their limited engagement in preventive behaviors. Health promotion initiatives tailored to the specific needs of the population—particularly women in precarious situations and pregnant women—are presented. M.-C. Freire examines the living conditions of rural youth, their difficulties in accessing healthcare and entering the workforce, linked to remoteness and material challenges. She suggests priorities to be implemented to facilitate the professional and social integration of these groups of young people, greater consideration of their health needs, and the development of preventive measures. This necessarily involves networking among health and social services professionals. C. Bouchet briefly reviews the role of regional health conferences in analyzing local problems and in considering ways to address them.
