Monitoring of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. 2013–2014 Heating Season Report.
Highlights
During the 2013–2014 heating season, the following were observed:
a 13% decrease in the number of reports compared to the previous heating season, likely due to generally mild weather conditions during the winter,
a peak in CO poisoning in week 47 linked to a snow and ice storm,
a 37% decrease in the number of accidental deaths from CO poisoning compared to the previous heating season,
an increase, both in number and proportion, in poisonings caused by generators or outdoor heaters/barbecues compared to the previous heating season,
a single poisoning incident in a place of worship linked to radiant panel heating.
