Key Points
As of November 12, 2024, 128 PCR-confirmed cases of leptospirosis have been reported since January 1, 2024 (57 biologically confirmed cases in 2023).
The epidemic peaked in March (week 11). Since week 20, reported cases have been sporadic, confirming the end of the seasonal leptospirosis epidemic.
The incidence rate for the period is 38.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
A particularly brief rainy season from November 2022 to April 2023, with a precipitation deficit unprecedented since 1997, impacted the dynamics of the 2023 epidemic, resulting in a low number of cases.
Leptospirosis has been a notifiable disease since August 24, 2023. Only 14% of biologically confirmed cases were reported through the mandatory reporting system.
