Social CPS Worksheet: Developing Social Bonds and Prosocial Behaviors (S1.3)
This sheet focuses on the first general social psychosocial competency (PSC) and provides an overview of a specific psychosocial competency: Developing social connections and prosocial behaviors (S1.3). Developing bonds and prosocial behaviors involves knowing how to initiate relationships, interact in a friendly manner by listening and asking questions, showing interest, getting along with others, and being able to form friendships, as well as being able to adopt prosocial behaviors, that is, attitudes and actions that are beneficial to others and provide them with support (cooperation, acts of mutual aid, collaboration, social engagement, etc.). This involves developing three main psychological knowledge and skills: Knowledge and Skill 1: Knowing how to establish connections and develop meaningful relationships; Knowledge 2: Understanding different prosocial behaviors; Skill 3: Demonstrating prosocial behaviors beyond one’s immediate circle and expressing appreciation (or gratitude). This specific skill can be applied during CPS activities. Thus, following a theoretical section, practical examples are presented for adults, youth, and children.
