Risk factors for acquiring toxoplasmosis among pregnant women in 1995 (France)
This study does not identify any new risk factors, but it confirms that Toxoplasma transmission continues to occur among non-immune pregnant women through two main routes: consumption of undercooked beef and lamb, and consumption of poorly washed raw vegetables, or via hands or kitchen utensils. It also highlights the importance of written materials for disseminating recommendations. These results underscore the need to strengthen the primary prevention program for pregnant women. Prevention must begin as early as possible (either before the start of pregnancy or during the first trimester) and focus, in particular, on food-borne risk factors. (R.A.).
