A look back at the origins of La Santé de l'homme.

Isabelle von Bueltzingsloewen, a professor of history and sociology of health, traces the origins of the founding of *La Santé de l'homme*. She shows that the public health education initiative, which formed the basis of the journal, was conceived against the backdrop of the crisis that marked the 1930s. She analyzes the reasons why this project, championed by men such as Pierre Delore, Jacques Parisot, and Lucien Viborel, could only be realized under the Vichy regime, without, however, being interpreted as a propaganda tool in the service of a dictatorship.
