Addictive Behaviors Among Polynesian Adolescents: The 2009 Ecaap Survey.

The use of psychoactive substances among Polynesian adolescents is a major public health issue for which epidemiological data remain incomplete. To address this gap, a survey based on validated international indicators—allowing for comparisons with mainland France and other Pacific territories—was conducted by the Polynesian Health Department and INPES among a representative sample of the entire secondary school population. Aimed at all health and education professionals, this book presents the survey results and provides a comprehensive profile of Polynesian adolescents regarding health behaviors. It enhances understanding of their addictions in terms of prevalence and associated factors and highlights their health, living conditions, daily concerns, sleep, well-being, and interests. Finally, it offers suggestions for implementing a more effective public health policy based on a better understanding of these issues.
