Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of October 10, 2017.

Over the past week in the region:

Decrease in asthma-related visits among children (SOS doctors and emergency departments) over the past 3 weeks. Persistent cases of nasopharyngitis linked to the circulation of the rhinovirus.

Since 2015, France has observed an increase in the incidence of invasive meningococcal infections of serogroup W with a high case fatality rate, linked to the spread of a new variant. In the region, 5 cases have occurred over the past year. This situation calls for vigilance and underscores the need to send every meningococcal strain to the National Reference Center for genotyping.
