Key Points

COVID-19

  • Viral circulation continues to decline, with an incidence rate of 172 cases per 100,000 residents and a positivity rate of 12%.

  • New hospitalizations remain stable in week 24, while critical care admissions and deaths continue to fluctuate at a low level.

Flu

  • Pre-epidemic phase

  • In Week 24, there was a 60% increase in emergency department visits (n=13) compared to the previous week (n=8). Despite this increase in emergency department visits, no health impact has been identified. In community practice, the sentinel physician network has reported circulation of influenza A(H3N2) viruses since May 2022; however, activity remains low (an average of 2 to 4 positive samples per week). Réunion remains in the pre-epidemic phase within an epidemiological context.
