COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of July 13, 2022.

Key Points

In S27, an improvement in the epidemiological situation was observed in Martinique. Nevertheless, virological indicators remained at high levels.

The incidence rate was below 1,000 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants for the first time since Week 19, representing a 33% decrease. The positivity rate decreased by 7.5 percentage points, while testing rates also decreased by 8%. The 30–39 age group recorded the highest incidence rate.

The 7-day rolling effective R (from July 3 to 9) was 0.68 – 95% CI [0.65–0.70], significantly below 1. This confirmed the decline of the epidemic over this 7-day rolling period.

The observed proportion of the L452R mutation was stable in Week 27: it was identified in 73% of screened samples versus 74% in Week 26.

At the hospital level, indicators were decreasing in Week 27, with the exception of the number of emergency department visits, which increased by 18%.
