Antibiotic prescriptions in private practice: recovery confirmed in 2022
The recovery in antibiotic prescriptions in private practice is confirmed in 2022 (+16.6% compared to 2021). The number of prescriptions increased in 2022 at a faster rate than in 2021. However, it remains lower than in 2019. This increase applies to all age groups, particularly children under 15. For children aged 0–4, the number of prescriptions in 2022 exceeded that of 2019. The increase in prescriptions was particularly significant among children and toward the end of 2022 (linked to outbreaks of common winter infections). However, common winter infections rarely warrant a prescription for antibiotics.
