Key Points

In Week 33, the spread of SARS-CoV-2 slowed in mainland France, with a decrease in the incidence rate, but hospital indicators continue to rise. The situation remains very critical in Martinique and Guadeloupe.

  • Mainland France:

    • Incidence and hospitalization rates remain highest in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Occitanie, and Corsica

    Overseas territories:
    • Guadeloupe and Martinique: very high incidence rates, but declining

    • Persistent strain on hospitals and excess mortality from all causes and across all age groups in these two territories

    • French Guiana: increase in incidence rate and hospital indicators

Variants

  • 98.1% of cases identified as the Delta variant through sequencing in mainland France as of August 3, 2021

Contact tracing
