Health in Action, No. 446: Youth Empowerment
Empowerment is one of the key drivers for promoting public health. Commonly defined as the "increase in individuals' capacity to act," it is a little-known and poorly understood health determinant that nevertheless offers a means of addressing inequalities. The feature article in this issue therefore takes an educational approach, with a first section on the “state of knowledge” and a second section on the “state of practice.” Some twenty experts, social science researchers, and practitioners in the field have agreed to contribute. Also in this issue: effective interventions to prevent aging; Youth Consumer Clinics that offer care and guidance to young people (prevention of alcohol, cannabis, gaming, and screen use); and a “Environment and Health” section on endocrine disruptors. Please note that La Santé en action is now available in a format specially adapted for smartphones and tablets.
