Urban planning and land-use planning play a key role in public health. By addressing risk factors such as air pollution, noise pollution, and heat islands, and by promoting access to green spaces, healthcare, and physical activity, Health-Promoting Urban Planning (HPUP) improves well-being while generating environmental and social co-benefits: climate change mitigation and adaptation, reduction of social and regional health inequalities, and enhancement of biodiversity.

Three HPA “Boosters”—or collective intelligence workshops—have already been organized to engage stakeholders:

Objectives of the Booster

  • To share the results of the three previous Boosters
  • Collaborate to identify the focus areas for future Boosters
  • To disseminate best practices in UFS across regions

For this edition and those to follow, the goal is to give special attention to local government officials and elected representatives in order to better understand their constraints through their testimonials and interactions with stakeholders, and to identify the key factors necessary for the effective dissemination of UFS knowledge across regions.
