COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Hauts-de-France Region as of December 16, 2022

Key Points

  • The epidemic is still on the rise in the Hauts-de-France region, as evidenced by trends in virological indicators (all tests combined).

  • In urban areas, the increase in healthcare visits for suspected Covid-19 continues at SOS Médecins, and consultations for acute respiratory infections (all causes combined) are also rising sharply among doctors in the Sentinelles Network.

  • In hospitals, visits to emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 continue to rise, and the number of new admissions is increasing again in general wards.

  • Currently, only 1 in 3 people aged 60 to 79 (35.3%) and fewer than 2 in 10 people over 80 (14.6%) have “up-to-date” vaccine protection against Covid-19. Only 1 in 10 eligible individuals (11%) has received a bivalent booster vaccine tailored to the Omicron variants.
