Acceleration of SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation across the region, with hospital admissions stabilizing after several weeks of decline
The BA.2 sublineage is predominant, accounting for 89.5% of interpretable sequences in the Flash S21 survey; increase in the proportion of samples carrying the L452 mutation (38.7% in S23 vs. 20.1% in S22). The BA.5 sublineage is on the rise in the region (9.7% for Flash S22 vs. 4.4% for Flash S21)
Stabilization in the number of COVID-19 cases in ESM
Acute gastroenteritis
In week 23, activity related to gastroenteritis was stable in hospital emergency departments
Oscour®: moderate activity level (Figures 11 and 12): in Week 23, the number of hospital emergency department visits for gastroenteritis (n = 203) was stable compared to the previous week (n = 191) and accounted for 1.6% of coded visits (1.5% in Week 22). Gastroenteritis activity was higher than that observed in 2021 and 2020 during the same period. Among children under 5 years of age, gastroenteritis activity was up compared to the previous week (7.9% vs. 6.1% in week 22). In week 23, the hospitalization rate was 17.2% (21.7% among children under 5 years of age), up from the previous week (14.7% in week 22), and gastroenteritis accounted for 1.7% of the total number of hospitalizations (1.2% in week 22).
Sentinel Network: In Week 23, the regional incidence rate of outpatient visits for acute diarrhea was estimated at 63 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (95% confidence interval: [0–135]), stable compared to the consolidated incidence rate for week 22 (57 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 95% confidence interval: [9–105]).
Extreme heat and heat waves
In Week 23, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, the number of heat-related emergency department visits (n = 26) was higher than in Week 22 (n = 18) and accounted for 0.2% of all visits.
