In Week 17, virological surveillance indicators declined, but rates remained high nonetheless.

  • The incidence and positivity rates decreased across all departments and age groups, except among those under 15, where a slight increase was observed.

  • 98.1% of screened tests showed a profile consistent with the Omicron (D1) variant in Week 17. The BA.2 sublineage accounted for 97.6% of sequences in the Flash S16 survey. In Week 17, a second positive case of the BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant was reported and investigated in the region.

  • Decline in emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19

  • Decrease in new hospitalizations and new admissions to critical care for COVID-19
