COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Centre-Val de Loire Region as of May 20, 2022

Key Points

In Week 19, virological surveillance indicators declined, but rates remained high nonetheless.

  • Decrease in incidence and positivity rates across all departments and age groups

  • 97.4% of screened tests showed a profile consistent with the Omicron (D1) variant in S19. The BA.2 sublineage accounted for 98.0% of sequences in the S18 Flash survey.

  • In week 19, a third positive case of the BA.5 sublineage and the first case of the BA.4 sublineage of the Omicron variant were reported and investigated in the region.

  • Decrease in emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19

  • Decrease in the hospitalization rate and stabilization of critical care admissions for COVID-1
