Health Insurance Reimbursement Data
Health Insurance Reimbursement Data
Health insurance reimbursement data serve as a source for monitoring HBs antigen (Ag) screening activity in France. These data pertain exclusively to laboratory tests performed on an outpatient basis or during hospitalization in a for-profit private healthcare facility. This dataset does not include tests performed in public healthcare facilities (inpatient or outpatient care).
The data comes from:
Sniir-AM (National Inter-Regime Health Insurance Information System), which provides data from all health insurance regimes across France. This data is accessible via the SNIIRAM SNDS portal
Trends in reimbursements for HBsAg screening (2010–2016)
Figure 1 shows the trend between 2000 and 2015 in the number of reimbursements for HBsAg screening (procedures 322, 4710, 4711, 4712, and 4715) from the Nomenclature of Medical Laboratory Procedures.
In 2016, 3.4 million HBsAg tests were performed and reimbursed in France in the private sector (data from all insurance schemes, SNIIRAM), of which 2.7 million were performed and reimbursed by the general health insurance scheme.
Data on reimbursements across all insurance schemes show an annual increase ranging from 2.0% to 9.1% over the past five years, rising from 2,629,220 tests (40.3 tests per 1,000 inhabitants) in 2012 to 3,428,502 tests (51.6 tests per 1,000 inhabitants) in 2016.
Reimbursement data from the general health insurance scheme, which provides historical data starting in 2010, shows a similar trend (Figure 1).
