Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, October 17, 2017.

Summary

Based on mortality data from civil registry offices and reported by INSEE, there has been an increase in the number of deaths from all causes during the last two weeks of September (weeks 38 and 39), primarily among people aged 65 and older (Figures 1–3). However, the figures remain within the usual range of fluctuation for this period across all age groups. Given the usual delays in data transmission, the observed mortality figures are still incomplete. Caution is therefore advised when interpreting these findings. According to data from electronic certification, 1,470 deaths were recorded during week 41 of 2017 (October 9–15, 2017).
