Chikungunya

• Since August 23, 2024, 32 locally acquired cases of chikungunya have been reported. Three outbreaks are currently active: one in the West (L’Ermitage) and two in the South (Etang Salé les Hauts, Grand Bassin). A new isolated case has also been reported (South). The geographic spread of cases continues amid an acceleration in transmission dynamics. The most recent confirmed case had an onset date of December 1, 2024.

Acute respiratory infection

• The increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis in weeks 46 and 47 has not continued into week 48.

Acute gastroenteritis

• Decrease in emergency department visits and hospitalizations, particularly among children under 5 years of age, following a resurgence the previous week.
